PriestleySoundy advises Michael French on his appointment as CCO of Viridor

PriestleySoundy advised Michael French in connection with his appointment as Chief Commercial Officer of Viridor.

Michael joined Viridor after 14 years at E.ON, where he was responsible for global strategy as Chief Operating Officer.  He will drive Viridor’s growth strategy in energy from waste (EfW) and polymers reprocessing in his new role, in a move aimed at boosting sustainable and profitable growth of these business areas.

Viridor (from the Latin “to become green”) is one of the UK’s leading recycling, resource and waste management companies.  Its ambition is to build a world where nothing goes to waste.  It operates 11 EfW facilities across the UK and a leading polymers plastics recycling business.

In March 2020, Pennon Group plc announced the sale of Viridor to one of KKR’s infrastructure funds, in a £4.2 billion deal.

KKR was advised by Slaughter and May and Simpson Thacher.
