PriestleySoundy advises David Wall on his appointment as the Executive Chair of Alpha Japan Holdings

PriestleySoundy are advising David Wall in connection with his appointment as the Executive Chair of Alpha Japan Holdings and his incentive arrangements.

David is the former CEO of Ardagh’s metal division and the founder of Acentus, a consulting business working with private equity and the packaging industry.

Alpha Japan is the acquisition vehicle for Apollo’s acquisition of Showa Denko Cans, Hancan, Universal Can, Sakai Aluminium and MA Aluminium.  Combined, this is a US$2bn business in the beverage can and aluminium rolling and extrusion industries.  The newly-formed business is the number one player in the Japanese beverage can industry and the number two player in Vietnam.

Apollo’s acquisition was announced on 28th January 2021.  The deal marked the first private equity investment in Japan for Apollo.  Apollo is a leading global alternative investment manager with approximately $433 billion of assets under management as of 30th September 2020.

Apollo is being advised by Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison.
