PriestleySoundy was delighted to host a table, and to be joined by so many guests, at the fourteenth celebration of International Women’s Day at the Guildhall in the City of London on Friday, 6th March 2020. Ranvir Singh, the award-winning presenter and Political Editor for Good Morning Britain, chaired a panel of distinguished speakers: Professor Fiona Wilcox (HM Senior Coroner for Inner West London), Sonita Alleyne OBE FRSA (Master of Jesus College Cambridge), Roma Agrawal MBE FICE (structural engineer) and Flavilla Fongang (award-winning founder of 3 Colours Rule).
The event celebrated the contribution of women to the Square Mile, with a particular focus on encouraging and supporting young people on their chosen career path. It also raised much needed funds for the charity Refuge, which provides specialist support to women, children and some men escaping domestic violence, and other forms of violence. Refuge opened the world’s first safe house (in West London) in 1971. Today, Refuge supports over 6,500 women and children on any given day.
